Indochina Mixed Forests & Peatlands Bioregion
The bioregion’s land area is provided in units of 1,000 hectares. The protection goal is the combined Global Safety Net (GSN1) areas for the component ecoregions. The protection level indicates the percentage of the GSN goal that is currently protected on a scale of 0-10. N/A means data is not available at this time.
The Indochina Mixed Forests & Peatlands bioregion is located in the Southeast Asian Forests subrealm of Indomalaya and contains 15 terrestrial ecoregions – Red River Freshwater Swamp Forests [1], Northern Vietnam Lowland Rainforests [2], Northern Annamites Rainforests [3], Southern Annamites Montane Rainforests [4], Southern Vietnam Lowland Dry Forests [5], Southeastern Indochina Dry Evergreen Forests [6], Central Indochina Dry Forests [7], Tonle Sap-Mekong Peat Swamp Forest [8], Tonle Sap Freshwater Swamp Forests [9], Cardamom Mountains Rainforests [10], Chao Phraya Lowland Moist Deciduous Forests [11], Chao Phraya Freshwater Swamp Forests [12], Northern Thailand-Laos Moist Deciduous Forests [13], Luang Prabang Montane Rainforests [14], Northern Khorat Plateau Moist Deciduous Forests [15], Indochina Mangroves [16], South China Sea Islands [17] – totaling approximately 90.5 million hectares of land area. This bioregion also includes the South China Sea Islands (267) and surrounding marine areas.
